Made by ‘Frans Hogenberg’ after an anonymous artist. Frans / Franz Hogenberg (1535-1590) was a cartographer from Brabant. He drew maps for Dutch, German and English publishers. He was probably trained by his father-in-law, Hendrik Terbruggen. Hogenberg also made a large group of newsprints concerning the tumultuous second half of the 16th. century.
