Description
This print shows a view of the battle of Nieuwpoort, Belgium, in the second of juli 1600. It provides an overview of the area east of the harbor channel of Nieuwpoort with the strategically positioned troops. The Dutch army is shown on the left and the Spanish troops on the right. It is a bird’s-eye view with the North Sea and the war fleet in the background. There is a caption indicating the army commanders and troops using numbers and letters: 1-23 and a-h.
