Antique print, titled: ‘Autun in Frankreich.’ – Plate 1216: a view of Autun in the Saone-et-Loire department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comte in eastern France. This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from: ‘Meyer’s Universum’ published in Germany ca. 1850.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Martini’ after ‘Joseph Meyer’. Joseph Meyer (1796 – 1856) was a German industrialist and publisher, most noted for his encyclopedia, Meyers Konversations-Lexikon. He also published the world in pictures on steel engravings ‘Meyers Universum’, 1833-1861, 17 volumes in 12 languages with 80,000 subscribers all over Europe. This plate engraved by Martini.
Condition: Very good, given age. Remains of attachment to carrier to the rear of the sheet. Print has been in matting, some discolouring on print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
