Map: ‘Ath.’ (Ath.) This map shows the fortifications of the Belgian city ot Ath (Aat). This print originates from a 1785 or 1786 edition of: ‘Les délices des Pays-Bas.’ by Jean Christijn, published 1697-1786. In the 1785-1786 editions the worn plates were re-engraved.Artists and Engravers: The author Jean Baptiste Christyn (1622-1690) was a historian from Brussels. Engraved after the original plates by Jacobus Harrewijn. Jacobus Harrewijn (1660-1727): Dutch engraver and etcher of topographical and decorative prints. Born in Amsterdam, died in Brussels. He was a scholar of the famous Romeyn de Hooghe. Married in Amsterdam in 1683. He became a master in the guild in Brussels in 1695 and he is known to have worked in The Hague in 1727.
Condition: Excellent. General age related toning and occasional light staining from handling as visible on image.
