Made by ‘Jacob Folkema’ after ‘Jan de Beijer’. Jacob Folkema (1692-1767) a Dutch designer and engraver, was born and died at Dokkum, in Friesland. He was first instructed by his father, Johann Jakob Folkema, a goldsmith, and studied afterwards under B. Picart at Amsterdam. During that time he worked for Royaumont’s Bible, 1712, and Ruysch’s Anatomy, 1737. Jan de Beijer (1703 – 1780), also given as Jan de Beyer, was a Dutch draughtsman and painter known for this drawings of towns and buildings in the present-day countries of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In total, he produced some 1500 drawings, over 600 of which were reproduced as engravings by other artists.
Condition: Good, given age. Folding as published. Several tears in paper edges, backed. Sold waf. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
