This original engraving originates from ‘Historische Beschryving der Reizen, of Nieuwe of Volkome Verzameling van de allerwaardigste en zeldzaamste zee- en land-togten [�]’, volume 21. This is a continuation of Abbe Prevost’s work ‘Histoire Generale des Voyages’, published in Amsterdam by Roman, De Groot, Loveringh, et al (1767).Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Jakob van der Schley (Amsterdam, 1715-1779). Van der Schley was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver, who studied under Bernard Picart, and whose style he subsequently copied.
Condition: Excellent, given age. Right edge a little warped from binding. A small stain in the top left corner of the image, near the platemark. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
