BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Used as the title print for “Palamedes oft Vermoorde onnooselheyd,” published by Jacob Aertsz Colom in Amsterdam, 1625. Later edition from Northern Netherlands.

Biography engraver: Salomon Savery (1594-1678) was a Dutch engraver known for his intricate and precise illustrations, often working on allegorical and historical themes.

Biography artist: Joost van den Vondel (1587-1679), a Dutch playwright and poet, was a leading figure in the Dutch Golden Age, known for his tragedies and allegories.
