Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 21 x 16 cm. The image size is ca. 19.5 x 15 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 8.3 x 6.3 inch. The image size is ca. 7.7 x 5.9 inch.
This original print shows: the side of the Abbey of Saint Martin in Tournai (Belgium). This print originates from a not exctly known edition of: ‘Les delices des Pays-Bas.’ by Jean Christijn, published 1697-1786. In the 1785-1786 editions the worn plates were re-engraved.Artists and Engravers: Engraved by J. Harrewyn. Jacobus Harrewijn (1660-1727): Dutch engraver and etcher of topographical and decorative prints. Born in Amsterdam, died in Brussels. He was a scholar of the famous Romeyn de Hooghe. Married in Amsterdam in 1683. He became a master in the guild in Brussels in 1695 and he is known to have worked in The Hague in 1727.
Condition: Very good given age. Folds, as issued, top half of the sheet discoloured. Both folds starting, closed with contemporary paper. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
