Medium: Etching and engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Condition: good, given age. Light creasing, foxing and soiling. Some paper loss in bottom left corner. Some paper rubbing damage and small tears in the paper edges. Larger tear at right above middle, backed. Trimmed to the image. . General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Jean Charles Le Vasseur (1734-1816) was a French engraver active in Paris, known for reproductive engravings after Old Master and French genre painters, as well as book and cabinet prints.

Biography artist: The Le Nain brothers (Louis, Antoine, and Mathieu Le Nain) were 17th-century French painters celebrated for sober and dignified depictions of peasant life and domestic genre scenes.
