BACKGROUND INFORMATION
This attractive print was published in Venice, by Wagner, ca 1750.
Biography engraver: Joseph Wagner (1706-1780) was a highly regarded eighteenth century engraver and draughtsman. He was born at Thalendorf, on Lake Constance, in 1706. He studied painting at Venice under Jacopo Amigoni. e worked in Rome, Bologna, Paris, and England before returning to Venice, where he founded a printmaking school. His students included Francesco Bartolozzi and Antonio Capellan.
Biography artist: Franz de Paula Ferg (1689-1740) was a Austrian painter from Vienna.
