BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Animalia ad vivum delineata et aqua forti aeri impressa Studio et Arte Nicolai Berchemi, ca. 1646-1652. Possiibly a later early 18th.c. impression.

Reference: Hollstein Dutch 33 or 34; Bartsch 33 or 34 (plate 5 of 8 in series).

Provenance: Collectionmark vE in circle = Pim van Eekelen (lugt 5101).

Biography engraver: Nicolaes Pietersz. Berchem (1620-1683), Dutch Golden Age painter and etcher known for pastoral scenes and idealized Italianate landscapes.
