Biography engraver: Karel Dujardin (1626-1678) was a Dutch painter and etcher of Italianate landscapes, animals, and genre scenes. He trained with Nicolaes Berchem and spent much of his life in Italy, where he died in Venice. His finely detailed etchings often depict peaceful rural life.
