BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Johann Gruninger (c.1455-1532) was a prominent German printer and publisher active in Strasbourg. He specialized in richly illustrated books, particularly classical texts, and is known for his extensive use of woodcut illustrations produced in his workshop.
