This print shows the title plate with two little boys drawing in a sketchbook. With a coat of arms on the cover. There are sheets with examples and text on the floor. Graffiti on the wall behind the boys. From the series of 16 sketchings: Livre pour apprendre ? dessiner.
Made by Stefano della Bella after own design.
Medium: Etching on handlaid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 8.2 x 9.7 cm (3.23 x 3.82 inch). Image size: 7 x 8.5 cm. (2.76 x 3.35 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Wrinkles. Remains of paper tape in corners on reverse. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

This attractive print was published by Israel Henriet, Paris 1650.

Biography engraver: Stefano della Bella (1610-1664) was an Italian draughtsman and printmaker known for etchings of a great variety of subjects, including military and court scenes, landscapes, and lively genre scenes. He left 1052 prints, and several thousand drawings, but only one known painting. He was born and later died in Florence, Italy.
