Two spies carrying a large bunch of grapes on a pole, with a landscape of Canaan in the background.

Made by an anonymous engraver after Maarten de Vos.

Medium: Engraving on hand-laid (verge) paper. Watermark: Small coat of arms with initials “IM,” dated 1600.

Sheet size: 26 x 19 cm (10.24 x 7.48 inch). Image size: 26 x 19 cm. (10.24 x 7.48 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Small closed hole and tear in lower margin; backed and retouched with ink; minor paper chip in lower right. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography artist: Maarten de Vos (1532-1603) was a Flemish painter and draughtsman known for religious and historical scenes.
