No. 5 from a series of 6: ‘Misere de la guerre.’, first published in 1632-1636 by Callot’s best friend and publisher Israel Henriet (1590 -1661). Ref: Lieure 1337-2(2).
Made by ‘Jacques Callot’ after own design. Jacques Callot (Nancy 1592-1635) was a famous baroque printmaker and draftsman from Lorraine / present day France. He was active in Italy employed by Cosimo II de Medici until 1621. He is an important figure in the development of the old master print and highly popular.
Condition: Good, given age. Remains of glue in the top margin from previous attachment. Light creasing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
