BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Source: unknown, to be determined.
Biography engraver: Bernhard Schreuder (1748-1780) was a notable artist known for his printmaking. He was a pupil of Cornelis Ploos van Amstel, a renowned Dutch artist. This piece is a print drawing made with etching and rocker, printed in brown. It’s worth noting that after a disagreement with Ploos van Amstel, Schreuder established himself as an independent and competing artist.
Biography artist: Willem van de Velde the Younger (18 December 1633 (baptised) – 6 April 1707) was a Dutch marine painter, the son of Willem van de Velde the Elder, who also specialised in maritime art. His brother, Adriaen van de Velde, was a landscape painter.
