Medium: Mezzotint engraving on wove (vellin) paper.
Sheet size: 21 x 29 cm (8.27 x 11.42 inch). Image size: 15 x 22.5 cm. (5.91 x 8.86 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Light creasing and foxing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published by J.J. Haid et filius / J.J. Haid & Sohn. “J.J. Haid,” or Johann Jacob Haid or Johann Jakob Haid (1704-1767) was a German engraver who worked in Augsburg. Haid came from a German family of artists and engravers and was known for large mezzotint portraits. His son Johann Elias Haid also became a mezzotint engraver and took over his publishing house, thusly named “J.J. Haid & Sohn” (J.J. Haid and Son).
Biography engraver: Johann Elias Haid (1739-1809) was a German engraver, portrait painter, mezzotint artist and publisher. He was the son of the engraver Johann Jacob Haid.
Biography artist: Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich (1712-1774) was a German painter and art administrator. In his own works, he was adept at imitating many earlier artists, but never developed a style of his own.
