BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Cornelis Cort (c.1533-1578) was a Dutch engraver and draughtsman known for his finely detailed engravings, often after major Italian and Flemish artists. He worked in Italy and was instrumental in spreading Italian Renaissance style through Northern Europe.

Biography artist: Pauwels Franck (c.1540-1596), also known as Paolo Fiammingo, was a Flemish painter active in Venice. His works often featured mythological or allegorical subjects, and his style combined Flemish detail with Italianate composition.
