Description
Original antique master print showing a scene from the comical opera ‘Rose et Colas’ by Michel-Jean Sedaine. A man is standing at a loom, weaving thread. A hissing cat stands on a barrel behind him, while a woman emerges from behind a curtain beneath the stairs.
Made by Jean Baptiste Simonet after Baudouin.
Medium: Etching / engraving with hand colouring on wove (vellin) paper.
Sheet size: 29 x 39.5 cm (11.42 x 15.55 inch). Image size: 25 x 35 cm. (9.84 x 13.78 inch).
Condition: fair, given age. Paper browned. Scattered foxing but mostly visible on verso. Colours a bit faint. Edges with remnants of former matting. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
