Biography engraver: Jan van Aken (1614-1661) was a Dutch printmaker and draughtsman known for his finely detailed etchings of landscapes and religious subjects. He was active in Amsterdam and collaborated with several major artists of his time.
Biography artist: Herman Saftleven (1609-1685) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman best known for his landscapes of the Rhine and surrounding regions. His topographical precision and idealized views influenced Dutch landscape tradition well into the 18th century.
