‘D? HEER VAN KLINKER LANTS HUYS.’

– Etching/engraving of Huis te Blotinghe, Rijswijk, with moat and bridge. Foreground features tall trees, a hunter with dog, and a group of four people, one kneeling beside a basket. Framed with oak-leaf motif border and title banner. This estate was inhabited between 1590 and 1715 by members of the De Nobelaer family, some of whom held the title Heer van Klinkerland.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Originally issued as part of the border decoration of the figurative map of The Hague (1681-1682), later published in La Galerie Agreable du Monde, Pieter van der Aa, Leiden, 1728.

Provenance: Ex. Collection Laurentius.

Biography engraver: Cornelis Elandts (active 1663-c.1681) was a Dutch etcher, mapmaker, and land surveyor based in The Hague. He is known for his contribution to the 1681-1682 figurative wall map of The Hague and other finely detailed topographical works.
