Medium: Mezzotint engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 46.9 x 35.8 cm (18.46 x 14.09 inch). Image size: 38 x 30.8 cm. (14.96 x 12.13 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Some false printer’s creases from printing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Wallerant Vaillant (1623-1677) was a pioneer of the mezzotint technique, producing numerous fine works using this medium.

Biography artist: David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690) was a Flemish Baroque artist, known for his lively scenes of peasant life and his work in establishing the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
