Description
Original antique print, titled: ‘Livie en Ceres’. It shows: a reproduction of a statue of Ceres/Demeter, the Roman goddess of agriculture, grain crops and fertility. She holds a cornucopia in one hand, and a bunch of corn in the other. She wears a corona spicea (a garland of corn) on her head. The original statue is in the Louvre.
Made by Jean Jacques II Avril after Vautier.
Medium: engraving / etching with hand colouring on wove paper.
Sheet size: 39.5 x 54 cm (15.55 x 21.26 inch). Image size: 33.5 x 48.5 cm. (13.19 x 19.09 inch).
Condition: excellent, given age. Faint spots in the margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
