Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl’ after ‘Caspar Netscher’. Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl (1804-1877) was a German painter, lithographer and photographer. Caspar Netscher (1639-1684) was a Dutch portrait and genre painter. He was born in Heidelberg or Prague, but fled with his mother and sister to Arnhem during the civil war. He became a pupil of Ter Borch for a few years before embarking on a Grand Tour. He died early, in 1684, but his legacy was thenceforth carried by his two sons, Constantyn and Theodorus.
