BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published by Jacobus van Campen, Venice. From ‘Opera selectiora quae Titianus Vecellius Cadubriensis et Paulus Calliari Veronensis inventarunt ac pinxerunt’ (1680).
Biography engraver: Valentin Lefebvre (c.1642-c.1682) was a Flemish engraver and printmaker active mainly in Venice. He is best known for his reproductive engravings after Venetian masters such as Titian and Paolo Veronese. Lef?bvre published several series of prints reproducing important Italian paintings, contributing to the dissemination of Venetian Renaissance compositions throughout Europe.
