BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Egbert van Panderen (1580/1581-1637) was a Flemish engraver active in the late 16th and early 17th century, primarily in Antwerp. He worked with and after Pieter de Jode I, contributing to the large output of devotional and biblical prints in the city.

Biography artist: Pieter de Jode I (1570-1634), Flemish engraver and publisher, was the father of Pieter de Jode II. Trained in Antwerp, he was known for his reproductive engravings and detailed religious scenes in a sharp Mannerist style.
