BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The original painting of “Moonlit Night” was part of a private collection in Frankfurt, Germany at the time. .

Reference: Hollstein Dutch 47-4(5).

Biography engraver: Anton Radl (1774-1852) was a Austrian landscape and genre painter and engraver. He was active in Vienna, Brussels (student of Kermer) and Frankfurt where he worked on engraving with Predil.

Biography artist: Aert van der Neer (1603-1677) was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter known for his night scenes, including moonlit landscapes, firelight scenes, and winter scenes. His works often feature the rivers and canals of his native Netherlands, accompanied by sunsets or nighttime scenes. His works are numerous and are held in important art museums worldwide.
