A humorous depiction of a man dressed as Mezzetin, playing the guitar, surrounded by women and children. Based on a painting by Watteau that portrays the glass dealer P. Sirois and his children in theatrical costumes.

Impression of one of the first 10 engravings after Watteau’s works. Orignally published by P. Sirois, the printing rights were acquired by F. Chereau in 1726 by whom this version was published.

Biography engraver: Henry Simon Thomassin (1688?1741), French engraver known for his work based on prominent French paintings.
