Medium: engraving / etching with hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 42 x 29.5 cm (16.54 x 11.61 inch). Image size: 18.2 x 14.5 cm. (7.17 x 5.71 inch).

Condition: good, given age. A few crinkles and creases. Irregular edges as issued with a few tiny tears. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

No. 140 from a series of figure studies, published by Frederik Bloemaert c. 1640. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Frederik Bloemaert’ after ‘Abraham Bloemaert’.

Biography engraver: Frederik Bloemaert (Utrecht ca. 1614-1690) was a Dutch printmaker and draftsman.

Biography artist: Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651) was a Dutch painter and etcher/engraver. He was one of the ‘Haarlem Mannerists’, but shifted towards a more Baroque style around 1600.
