BACKGROUND INFORMATION
No. 74 from a series of figure studies, published by Frederik Bloemaert c. 1640. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Frederik Bloemaert’ after ‘Abraham Bloemaert’.
Biography engraver: Frederik Bloemaert (Utrecht ca. 1614-1690) was a Dutch printmaker and draftsman.
Biography artist: Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651) was a Dutch painter and etcher/engraver. He was one of the ‘Haarlem Mannerists’, but shifted towards a more Baroque style around 1600.
