BACKGROUND INFORMATION
After a painting owned by Madame de Pompadour; part of a wider series of mythological and literary scenes after Boucher.

Biography engraver: August Hermann Jakob Degmair (1717-1783) was a German engraver and mezzotinter; worked in Augsburg for the Klauber’sche Verlag; specialised in portraiture.
Biography artist: Francois Boucher (1703-1770) was a leading French Rococo painter, known for idyllic and voluptuous paintings on classical and allegorical subjects, including decorative arts and mythological themes.
