BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Rombout vande Hoejen / van den Hoeye (c. 1622-1671) was a Flemish engraver known for his detailed and expressive works. His engravings often depicted religious and allegorical scenes, and he worked after designs by prominent artists such as Gerard Seghers. Van den Hoeye was active in the mid-17th century, and his works are noted for their technical skill and emotional depth.
Biography artist: Gerard Seghers (1591-1651) was a Flemish painter and one of the leading figures in the Antwerp school of Baroque painting. He was known for his religious and genre paintings, which often featured dramatic lighting and intense emotional expression.
