Possibly from a series of 17 landscape: ‘Ruinarum harum Inventori Dn Jonae Umbach Jun. Pictori insigni. Haec aqua forti diducta tentamina D. D. Bernhardus Zaeck.’ State: rare Provenance: Ex. Coll. Georg Denzel (1873-1959 and Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Denzel (collection mark: G+W D in circle; not in Lugt), father and son collectors from Munich.
Made by ‘Bernard Zaech’ after an anonymous artist. Bernard Zaech was a 17th.c. German painter, engraver and silversmith from Augsburg. He often worked after Jonas Umbach. He was the stepfather of Matth?us K?sel.
Condition: Good, given age. Light staining an soiling, Remains of paper tape on rear from attachment. Two holes in left margin from binding. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
