Antique print, untitled. Bible illustration: Hebrews 13:3 (‘Remember those who are in bonds as though you were bound with them, and those who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.’) It shows a man seated in a prison with his ankle chained to the wall. A visitor with lantern and basket of food approaches. With Dutch text: ‘In ‘t goed doen moet men niet vertragen …’ (Don’t slow charity…) Ref: A v W. II, 284. Artists and Engravers: Made by W. de Broen after an anonymous artist. Willem de Broen (also: Bruin, 1687-1748) was a Dutch engraver and publisher.
Condition: Excellent, given age. Margins a little cropped, two pinholes in the top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
