‘No. 127’

Vernis mou etching, sanguine inking on hand laid (vergé) paper.
Sheet size: 26 x 36 cm. (10,2 x 14,2 inch). Image size: 20 x 29 cm. (7,9 x 11,4 inch).

Source unknown, to be determined.

Made by ‘Gilles Demarteau’ after ‘Francois Boucher’. Gilles Demarteau (c.1729-1776) was a French engraver. He worked closely with Fragonard, Van Loo and Boucher. He is credited with creating a new polychrome pencil etching process (vernis mou).

Condition: Very good, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
