Antique Master Print, titled: ‘Die Wildprethandlerin.’ – A female game trader is seated at her stall. A customer holds up a hare, while a cutpurse prepares to rob the woman. Source unknown, to be determined. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘F. Hanfstaengl’ after ‘Gabriel Metsu’. Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl (1804-1877) was a Bavarian painter, lithographer and photographer. He originates from a commoner family but was recommended for the drawing-class of his school at Munich. His main accomplishment is a series of ca. 200 lithographic reproductions of works in the Dresden gallery. Gabriel Metsu (1629–1667) was a Dutch painter of history paintings, still lifes, portraits and exquisite genre works. He was a highly eclectic artist, who did not adhere to a consistent style, technique, or one type of subject for long periods.
Condition: Very good, given age. Some paper erosion in the lower right, a small tear just above that (not affecting image). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
