Description
Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: ‘La Fontaine du Triton.’ – (Triton’s Fountain.) A landscape with two nobles on horseback, and several farmers resting on the ground. Others are drinking and filling jugs from the fountain.
Condition: Good, given age. Several tears in margin, backed. Creases in the margins. The paper damaged in the top right edge of the image. Overall light soiling. Bottom right corner with paper loss, remargined. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching/engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘J. Moyreau’ after ‘P. Wouwermans’. Jean Moyreau (French, 1690-1762) eas a French engraver, student of Bon and Boullogne. He became a member of the Academy in 1736 and exposed at the Salon from 1737-1761. Philips Wouwerman (1619-1668) was a Dutch painter of landscapes, hunting and battle scenes.
