Visscher after P.D. de Laer. Cornelis Visscher II (1629-1658) was a Dutch Golden Age engraver and the brother of Jan de Visscher and Lambert de Visscher. Pieter de Laer (1592-1642) was a Dutch Golden Age painter of genre scenes, active for over a decade in Rome (He travelled to Rome in 1625 where he became a member of the Bentvueghels, a society of mostly Dutch-speaking artists in Rome known for their anti-academic stance and initiation rituals.), where his nickname was Il Bamboccio. Artists working in his style became known as the Bamboccianti.
Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped near the platemark. A rust stain in the bottom middle of print. A faint stain in the lower left corner. Remains of attachment to carrier to the rear of the sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
