Original master print, titled: ‘L’Heureuse Famille’. It shows a man, woman and their four young children, as well as a nurse, gathered in their (sparsely furnished) room.
Made by Johann Gerhard Huck after Jean-Honore Fragonard.
Medium: mezzotint engraving / etching with hand colouring on wove paper.
Sheet size: 58 x 50 cm (22.83 x 19.69 inch). Image size: 53.5 x 46 cm. (21.06 x 18.11 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Cropped to the edge of the image, with added margins of verge paper. The caption below the plate preserved (although a little browned). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

This print was published by Victor Pretre, in c.1790.
Biography engraver: Johann Gerhard Huck (1759-1811) was a German mezzotint engraver and artist. He started training at 14, and moved to England at the age of 23, where he worked for the renowned Valentine Green.
Biography artist: Jean-Honore Fragonard (1732-1806) was a French painter and printmaker who worked in the late Rococo style.
