Medium: Stipple engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 47.3 x 44.1 cm (18.62 x 17.36 inch). Image size: 36.8 x 33.3 cm. (14.49 x 13.11 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Trimmed, but plate clear. Paper loss in top left corner, backed. Damage in top right corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Elisabeth Challiou (active ca. 1780?) was a French engraver. Little biographical information survives, but she was active in Paris and engraved after well-known artists.

Biography artist: Angelica Kauffman (1741?1807) was a Swiss-English painter and founding member of the Royal Academy in London. A major figure in Neoclassicism, known for historical and allegorical compositions.
