Description
Original master print, titled: ‘Soir’. It shows an interior at night, with an old woman reading to a young couple. The woman of the couple is doing needlepoint, while a dog lies curled up at their feet.
Made by after an anonymous artist.
Medium: mezzotint engraving / etching with hand colouring on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 52 x 46 cm (20.47 x 18.11 inch). Image size: 48 x 42 cm. (18.9 x 16.54 inch).
Condition: very good, given age. A small hole in the bottom right corner, a small tear in the top margin restored. Remains of framing to the rear of the sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
