Biography artist: Sébastien Le Clerc (1637-1714) was a French engraver, draftsman, mathematician and military engineer. He became one of the most influential printmakers of seventeenth-century France, producing extensive series of landscapes, architectural views, ornament prints and book illustrations. His works were widely copied throughout Europe during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
