Medium: Etching on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 21.3 x 13.1 cm (8.39 x 5.16 inch). Image size: 20.6 x 12.5 cm. (8.11 x 4.92 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Staining from crayon. Light creasing. worm holes at bottom right and at left. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677) was a prolific and accomplished Bohemian graphic artist of the 17th century, who spent much of his life in England. He is known to German speakers as Wenzel Hollar; and to Czech speakers as V?clav Hollar. He is particularly noted for his engravings and etchings. He was born in Prague, died in London, and was buried at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster.
Biography artist: Pieter van Avont or Peter van Avont, (1600-1652) was a Flemish painter, draughtsman and printmaker known for his religious scenes and cabinet paintings often including nude children and putti. Van Avont was a frequent collaborator with many leading painters in Antwerp.
