Biography engraver: Herman van Swanevelt (c. 1600-1655) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and printmaker, best known for his landscape etchings. His work combined Italianate landscapes with a distinctly Dutch sensibility, depicting serene, often idealized, views of nature.
