Etching and engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 22,5 x 16 cm. (8,9 x 6,3 inch). Image size: 21 x 13,3 cm. (8,3 x 5,2 inch).

Source unknown, to be determined. State: Copy in reverse after the engraving by Jacques-Philippe LeBas. Part of a series of the four elements. Provenance: Ex. Coll. Georg Denzel (1873-1959 and Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Denzel (no collection mark on this sheet).

Made by ‘Johann Georg Hertel’ after ‘David Teniers II’. Johann Georg Hertel (1719-1768) was a German engraver/printmaker working in Augsburg. David Teniers II (1610-1690) was a famous Flemish artist from Antwerp.

Condition: Good, given age. Light soiling and staining. Light crease visible on rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
