Made by after an anonymous artist.

Medium: Etching on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 19 x 29.5 cm (7.48 x 11.61 inch). Image size: 16.5 x 21.5 cm. (6.5 x 8.46 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Some stains on the cut top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

From: “Bedelaars en boeren” (Beggars and peasants) published by Claes Janszoon Visscher (1587-1652), a Dutch Golden Age draughtsman, engraver, mapmaker, and publisher. He was the founder of the successful Visscher family mapmaking business. The firm that he established in Amsterdam would be passed down his generations until it was sold to Peter Schenk.

Biography engraver: Pieter Jansz. Quast (1605-1647) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, draughtsman of portraits and sculptor.
