Plate: This plate shows The robbery of the waggons. a large group of bandits attack a convoy of horse-drawn carts, the bandits run down from a wooded slope and attack those below causing turmoil, at left a riderless horse gallops away and the ground is littered with bodies and discarded weapons. Original master print, published c. 1680. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters. Artists and Engravers: This plate engraved by Bastiaen Stoopendael (1637-before 1707) after Pieter de Laer (c.1592-1642) . Published by Justus Danckerts (1635-1701).
Condition: Fine. General age-related toning. Several small tears in paper edges. Attached to carrier sheet. Narrow margins, cut at or near plate marks. Remains of fold in middle with possibly some paper separation. Please study scan carefully.
