Description
The wicked shepherds enter the sheepfold through the roofs and through the walls, but not through the door. Some of the shepherds steal sheep from the fold. In the background, shepherds feast at the inn. On the horizon, a wolf approaches a flock of sheep without the shepherd noticing.

From a series of 6 of Christ as the good shepherd, published by Claes Jansz. Visscher (1587-1652), a Dutch engraver and publisher in 1646.

Biography engraver: Julius Goltzius (c.1550-1606) was a Flemish engraver known for his intricate prints. .
Biography artist: Maerten de Vos (1532-1603) was a Flemish painter and draughtsman, known for his religious compositions and detailed landscapes.
