Condition: good, given age. Not inspected outside of frame. Total size show the approx frame size. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
After the original oil painting is in the Tate, London. From the tryptich / series ‘The last judgement’, c. 1851. This plate published by Thams McLean and Wiliams Stevens in 1857.

Biography engraver: Charles Mottram (1807-1876) was a British line, mezzotint and stipple engraver. He is particularly known for plates after John Martin. Exhibited at the RA from 1861-1877.
Biography artist: John Martin (1789-1854), British Romantic painter and mezzotint engraver, known for dramatic Biblical landscapes and apocalyptic visions.
